Although I prefer to make my own cleaners, they’re largely vinegar-based. Some people simply cannot abide the smell of vinegar, even if that tang disappears within minutes of use. Others prefer the convenience of commercial cleaning products, which I completely understand.
This post is for those of you looking for safe, affordable commercial cleaners that deliver on their promises to leave your household surfaces clean without harming them. These products can all be found at local retailers like Walmart or Target, or you can use the affiliate links provided to get them from Amazon.
Sprayway Glass Cleaner
For windows and other glass surfaces, it’s hard to beat Sprayway Glass Cleaner. This foam goes on lightly and doesn’t drip, so you don’t have to worry about it leaving a mess on windowsills. Use with a microfiber cloth for a streak-free shine on mirrors and windows inside and out — even in your car.
Scott’s Liquid Gold Polish
Most commercial furniture polishes contain wax and silicone which leads to buildup that attracts dust and dulls furniture over time. Scott’s Liquid Gold doesn’t. It cleans and moisturizes wood surfaces wonderfully and even removes that nasty buildup. It’s versatile, too: you can use it on brass and even stainless steel surfaces.
Mrs. Meyers All Purpose Cleaner
This safe, concentrated cleaner is 98% derived from plant and other natural ingredients. Combined with water in a spray bottle, Mrs. Meyers All Purpose Cleaner makes a fantastic cleaner for counters, appliance fronts, even floors. There are a variety of scents available, too.
Method Antibacterial Bathroom Spray
You need something stronger than an all-purpose cleaner in the bathroom, and that’s where Method Antibacterial Bathroom Spray comes in. This formula relies on a combination of essential oils and other primarily natural ingredients to kill 99.9% of bacteria on hard surfaces. There are a variety of scents available, but I like the spearmint version best.
J.R. Watkins All Purpose Wipes
Perfect for dealing with little spills, or to use with the Daily Cleaning Routine, these All Purpose Wipes from J.R. Watkins are free of bleach and ammonia. Plus, unlike most wipes, they’re biodegradable and flushable, so they’re also safe for septic systems, too. And, oh, they smell so good!
