I’m often asked about my favorite commercial cleaning products. Although I prefer to use natural homemade cleaners, not everyone likes making their own. Some people simply can’t stand the smell of vinegar, even if it disappears within minutes of use.
Others prefer the convenience of commercial cleaning products, which I completely understand. Honestly, there are times when I opt to use one of my favorite commercial cleaning products because I’ve run out of the ingredients to make my own, or because I’m simply in a hurry.
So, here’s the list of my top five favorite commercial cleaning products. I always have them on hand.
My Favorite Commercial Cleaning Products
These products can all be found at local retailers like Walmart or Target, or you can use the links provided to get them from Amazon.
Sprayway Glass Cleaner
For windows and other glass surfaces, it’s hard to beat Sprayway Glass Cleaner. It’s been one of my favorite commercial cleaning products since I saw it at Sam’s Club — and it costs less than Windex, too.
This foam goes on lightly and doesn’t drip, so you don’t have to worry about it leaving a mess on windowsills. Use with a microfiber cloth for a streak-free shine on mirrors and windows inside and out — even in your car.
It does have a fairly strong ammonia scent at first, so be sure to open your windows or run the bathroom fan when using it.
Here’s my homemade window cleaner recipe if you want to stick with a DIY version.
Scott’s Liquid Gold Polish
Most furniture polishes contain wax and silicone, which leads to buildup that attracts dust and dulls furniture over time. Scott’s Liquid Gold doesn’t.
This stuff cleans and moisturizes wood surfaces wonderfully and even removes that nasty buildup. Like my other favorite commercial cleaning products, it’s versatile: you can use it on brass and stainless steel surfaces.
Use with a soft lint-free cloth. For light cleaning, spray it on the cloth and wipe the surface. To remove buildup, or for tougher cleaning jobs, spray it directly on the surface then wipe.
If you’d rather make your own, here’s my homemade furniture polish recipe.
Mrs. Meyers Multi-Surface Concentrate
This safe, concentrated cleaner is 98% derived from plant and other natural ingredients, which is why Mrs. Meyers Multi-Surface Cleaner quickly became one of my favorite commercial cleaning products. It makes a fantastic cleaner for counters, appliance fronts, even floors. There are a variety of scents available, too.
Combine with water in a spray bottle and use with a microfiber cloth. You don’t need to rinse after use. It is not disinfecting, however, so it’s not suited for bathroom cleaning.

Method Antibacterial Bathroom Spray
You need something stronger than an all-purpose cleaner in the bathroom, and that’s where Method Antibacterial Bathroom Spray comes in.
This formula relies on a combination of essential oils and other primarily natural ingredients to kill 99.9% of bacteria on hard surfaces. There are a variety of scents available, but I like the spearmint version best.
Use with a microfiber cloth on vanities, sinks, countertops, showers and tub surrounds, and everywhere on toilets except the bowl.
Here’s a homemade bathroom disinfecting spray and scrub if you’d rather make your own.
J.R. Watkins All-Purpose Wipes
Although they claim to be biodegradable, it’s not a good practice to flush any kind of wipe. Unless a wipe disintegrates within 15 seconds in water, as toilet paper does, it can get snagged on what we’ll just refer to as “debris” in your sewage lines and eventually cause a clog. That can lead to serious plumbing issues and costly repairs.
Here’s a recipe for homemade cleaning wipes if you’d rather not shell out a lot of money for something you’re just going to use once and throw away.
